Ø INTRODUCTION


An incident is any event that has caused or has the potential to cause damage to an organisation, people, assets, systems or reputation. The response to an incident / emergency in an industrial environment like a process plant can present unique challenges to the safety and effectiveness of the frontline incident responders. Understanding the characteristics of hazards in the industrial environment and the appropriate tactics to be employed can ensure your response is not only safe but highly effective. This course is designed to demonstrate the value of a structured Incident Management response when dealing with an incident.

 

Ø Objectives

 

l To prepare personnel on the principles of how to respond appropriately

to incidents relevant to the plant hazards and operations in an efficient

and effective manner.

l To learn the Emergency Response Plan, and role of the Site Incident Controller.

 
 

Ø TRAINING METHODOLOGY


This training course will combine presentations with instructor-guided interactive discussions between participants relating to their individual workplace. Practical exercises, video material and case studies aiming at stimulating these discussions and providing maximum benefit to the participants will support the training.

This interactive training course includes the following training methodologies as a percentage of the total tuition hours:

Day 1

 

l The types of incidents that can develop into crises

l The valuable insights on the nature and dynamics of incidents today

l Understand the functional approach to Incident Management

Day  2

 

 

l Recognise the various type of hazards present during an incident / emergency

l  Understand the consequences of those hazards on people and plant

l  Determine appropriate tactics for your operating plant Utilise concepts such as “dynamic risk assessment” and “command and control” 

Day 3

 

 

l The incident management planning, preparation and practice session through table top exercise, and case studies discussions

l Recognize the various communications methods used when managing an incident

l Control and maintain Incident management process to assess information on status of the emergency 

Day 4

 

l The principles behind and the operation of an effective system for managing information

l  Scenario based exercises

l  Undertake post-emergency evaluation and debrief.

l Utilize incident management areas and processes to implement emergency response strategies

l Utilize appropriate communication methods when managing an incident to control all internal and external resources
