Introduction

       The purpose IACT  of this course Basics of Business Models and their commercial impact is today’s leading creator of value for businesses. From the rise of asset-light business model  to new revenue methods (think Microsoft moving from box sale to recurring revenue sale of Office Suite), the new wave of corporate innovation will rise from radical business models.

This module is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the business model and the various frameworks to build their own models (e.g. business model canvas). Later, they will be introduced to the difference between a business model and strategy and how a unique business model can be a strategic advantage.

Course Methodology

The course uses self-assessments and a wide mix of business cases that promote healthy discussions around the importance of managing multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities. Participants will benefit from role plays covering workplace challenges related to handling tasks, deadlines and priorities. They will learn how to deal with conflicts that may arise as a result. Interactive team exercises are also used with each team presenting their findings and comments.

Þ The great transition: Identify the transition from a linear to a circular economy and what this implies.

Þ Business Models & why do we need new business models?: What is a business model and why a changing economy needs a new generation of business models.

Þ Living in a changing economy: Identify seven trends and developments of a changing economy.

WEconomy: Economy and society is changing and how to use this as input for your value proposition.

Þ Bio-based, functional and circular economy

Þ  Commodity-based economy

Þ  How the economy is changing from a linear to a circular model

Þ  The notion of selling functions instead of products and how this impacts ownership / legal structures.

Þ Sharing and Collaborative economy

Þ  “Asset management "and the sustainable economy.

Þ  Changing economy requires new concepts of collaboration.

Þ Self-production (3D) economy: Envision the rise of self-production through 3D print technology.

New Business Model Design

Þ Identify and describe the people with whom you want to develop the initial value proposition.

Þ Make an inventory of the things you need to structure your value proposition.
