The course uses self-assessments and a wide mix of business cases that promote healthy discussions around the importance of managing multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities. Participants will benefit from role plays covering workplace challenges related to handling tasks, deadlines and priorities. They will learn how to deal with conflicts that may arise as a result. Interactive team exercises are also used with each team presenting their findings and comments.

Þ Definition of quality: quality vs grade, accuracy vs precision

Þ Quality Management concepts: principles, policy, objectives, planning, assurance, control, and audit

Þ Cost of quality.

 

DAY 2: 

Quality management and project life cycle

Þ PMBOK quality management knowledge area

Þ Quality at the project initiation stage: defining projects, collecting requirements, and planning scope management

Þ Project charter, project scope and product scope

Þ Business case essentials: focus of benefits

Þ Stakeholder management as a key to high quality outcomes

Þ Management of project constraints, priorities and trade-offs

 

DAY 3: 

Planning for Quality

Þ Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM)

Þ Scheduling: Critical Path Method (CPM) and Gantt Chart

Þ Allocation of resources to achieve outcomes on time

Þ Basic statistics for project planning and control

Þ Estimating and budgeting

Þ Project quality planning

Þ Quality metrics and checklists

DAY 4 :

Quality Assurance and Control

Þ Quality in the project execution phase

Þ Key quality principles; responsibility for quality

Þ Quality standards and metrics

Þ Project monitoring control and quality assurance tools; verification and validation processes

 

DAY 5 :

Ü Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools: Pareto analysis, cause-and-effect diagrams, histograms, trend analysis, scatter diagrams, process control charts, process capability

Þ Managing scope creep, hope creep, effort creep, feature creep and other “creeps”

Þ Correcting project delays

Þ Quality audits

Þ Project closure and acceptance

Þ End of project reviews and benefit realization reviews; lessons learned
