Introduction
The IACT Developing leadership skills for new managers course will give you the opportunity to reflect on your role as a Manager in a structured way and develop your leadership skills and capabilities.
During the course, you will identify your own leadership style and potential areas for development. You will explore your own ability to be an effective leader and address the question: "What do effective leaders do?".
This course is a comprehensive immersion in the fundamentals of leadership. You will gain a thorough understanding of what is required to motivate and lead your team successfully and the clear structures and tools to enable you to do this. You will leave with techniques to lead your team, and yourself, for optimum results and the motivation to put your learning into practice immediately.

Course Methodology
The course uses self-assessments and a wide mix of business cases that promote healthy discussions around the importance of managing multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities. Participants will benefit from role plays covering workplace challenges related to handling tasks, deadlines and priorities. They will learn how to deal with conflicts that may arise as a result. Interactive team exercises are also used with each team presenting their findings and comments.
Each module covers different aspects of using Game-Based Learning and Gamification in education. Coursework will incorporate your existing knowledge and experience and provide helpful learning environment with a good mix of theoretical and practical knowledge. On all outlines will apply Skills for Game-Based Learning and Gamification and practiced in hands-on, collaborative way within an international group setting.

Importance of Goal Setting and Planning Management for a Manager/Supervisor
Þ Developing goals and objectives that align with the company’s business plan
Þ Developing a concept of planning based on standardized principles
Þ Identifying the role of stakeholders in effective planning
Þ Using a planning process to set planning goals and get work started
Þ Integrating initiating objectives, scope, work structure and management planning
DAY 3:
Time Management and Communication as Effective Disciplines for New Managers/Supervisors
Þ Determining how person’s style of work affects time management
Þ Using a process to identify time issues and solutions to the issues
Þ Learning how empowerment is used in time management
Þ Importance of leadership and communication methods
Þ Learning the impact of verbal and non-verbal communication
Þ Developing an active listening communication style

How New Managers/Supervisors Build Effective Interpersonal Interactions
Þ Characteristics of interpersonal interaction for individuals
Þ Identification of the personal interaction styles
Þ Individual strengths and challenges of interpersonal interaction styles
Þ Successful interpersonal interaction develops trust
Þ Stages of team development and the supervisor’s role in each
Þ Understanding how people work better using varied interaction types
Day 5:
Developing Personal and Work Group Improvement Plans
Þ Encouraging innovation and improvement as a supervisor
Þ Understanding interpersonal work group dynamics
Þ Identification of change processes and human change
Þ Dealing with people who do not want change
Þ Developing an action plan for personal and work group improvement
