l A greater knowledge of CCTV surveys and the practical skills to complete them. l Greater appreciation of safety in water jetting operations. l Practical skills and familiarization with the equipment. l The key features of the various categories of pipe sewer survey. l How to recognise and code: structural conditions; service conditions; construction features; miscellaneous details from photographs and video. l How to use the continuous defect facility for coding. l Define typical drainage terminology l Manipulate drainage gradient information l Describe the basic principles of drainage bedding l Explain the alternative access provisions l Determine wastewater design flows l Explain Basement pumping and anti-flooding considerations

Day 2

Design underground piping drainage systems and minor culverts l Interpret the job brief and gather necessary information. l Classify major and minor flood events and select the l Average Recurrence Interval appropriate to the project. l Apply the Rational Method to the calculation of peak discharge. l Calculate the design discharge. l Determine a culvert size. l Prepare the layout for a piped drainage system for a urban development. l Determine the time of concentration and peak discharge. l Calculate the pit water levels and the hydraulic grade line throughout a drainage system. l Calculate pipe invert levels and grades. l Check system for overflow and modify where necessary.
